What these technologies mean

Cookies are small values stored by a browser and sent with relevant web requests. LocalStorage holds values for a website in the browser without automatically sending them with each request. Both can persist beyond the current page, although browser settings can restrict or remove them.

Temporary values held in a page's working memory are different: they normally disappear when the page is closed or reloaded. Browser caching, downloaded files and clipboard contents are also distinct from cookies.

The editorial site and brief tool

The site's own editorial and brief-builder script does not set cookies or use localStorage. It does not include advertising or analytics code. Navigation state, animation state and brief entries are held in the current page's memory.

The brief tool does not save your name, email address, question or project context in browser storage. Copying text puts it on your device's clipboard; downloading saves a text file through your browser. Those actions do not transmit the brief to us.

Cookie settings

If a consent control is presented by the site's hosting or consent service, use that control to accept optional storage or choose essential-only operation. A remembered choice may be kept in browser storage so that the service can apply it on later visits. Optional technologies should not be enabled before the required consent.

You can also inspect, block or delete this site's cookies and local storage through your browser's site-data or privacy settings. Removing a stored preference may cause a consent control to ask again. Blocking optional storage should not prevent you from reading these guides or using the local brief builder.

This page does not activate optional tracking or change a stored consent decision. Your browser's controls remain available even when a separate consent control is not displayed.

External websites and privacy

Opening an external reference takes you to another website, which may use its own cookies or storage. Our pages do not embed those external websites. Review their notices before using their services.
